A ceasefire between German, French, and British troops in the western-front took place on Christmas Eve in December 1914. Both sides informally agreed to stop fighting for a few hours and joined together for food, carols, and companionship. The 5th Annual Peace Carol organized by The Unitarian Universalist Church of Utica honors this moment in world history and encourages peace throughout our community.

An Interfaith carol sing-along led by the UUUtica choir will begin on the steps of the Oneida County History Center at 4:30 PM. followed by a performance by members of the Proctor Senior Choir, presentation of the colors by the Procter Jr. NROTC Color Guard, remarks on the truce by Joe Schmidt, light refreshments, and more. Individuals of all faiths and cultures are invited to attend. This event is free and open to the public. The 5th Annual Peace Carol commemoration is hosted and will be held at the Oneida County History Center, 1608 Genesee Street, Utica, NY, 13502. The event will conclude at approximately 6:30 p.m.
