The Utica Unitarian Universalist church is a home where families can mark events in life that challenge us or bring sorrow, those that inspire hope, assist in our journeys and bring us joy.
Both members and non-members of Utica UU are welcomed to honor the milestones in their life with the assistance of our minister who will guide you through these celebrations and remembrances.
When a child joins a family through adoption or birth, we honor this time with a child dedication. These ceremonies are called dedications and are similar to christenings and baptisms. Sometimes they are called naming ceremonies.
Weddings and Commitment Ceremonies
A wedding or union service at Utica UU church can be a ceremony especially crafted for the couple with the guidance of our minister. The Sanctuary seats up to 110 and has a fine grand piano and audio system. Each ceremony is a personal expression of love with a range of content that reflects the diversity of beliefs honored by the UU faith.
End of life services range from intimate counseling situations, to family oriented memorials, to larger community memorial services for public figures. Every situation is handled with dignity and according to the wishes of close family and friends. In essence, each ceremony is a celebration of one special life.
Please contact the Reverend Eve Stevens for her services for any of these important Rites of Passage. See the sidebar for rental information and logistic details.
