UU Utica Presents Grant to Central New York Conservancy

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Utica will present $1,000 to the Central New York Conservancy  in support of the Peace Garden being developed in FT Proctor Park and other park improvements. The presentation will take place on Wednesday May, 26 at 4:30 PM at Proctor Park. This contribution was funded by a grant from the New York State Convention of Universalists to support the social justice work of UU Congregations in this region of the state.

Social and climate justice are an important part of the mission of the UU Church of Utica and improvements to the Proctor Park and creation of a Peace Garden designated by the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism align with this mission. This work will enhance and expand access to nature and provide the community with more opportunities for exercise, fresh air, peaceful contemplation.  Newly planted trees will help improve the atmosphere by absorbing carbon gasses and producing oxygen. The Peace Garden will honor the diverse population of Utica, especially refugees who have come here to escape political violence, and highlights their contributions to our community.”
